The UV drying systems specialists IST METZ from Nürtingen Germany, is presenting its spectrum of leading UV curing technology for the graphic arts industry on its stand E1-EU11c at China Print 2009 from 12th to 16th May, 2009.

See the efficiency of URS reflector technology with your own eyes

Highlight on IST’s booth is the demonstration of its newly developed system, the URS Cold mirror reflector technology which increases significantly, the efficiency of UV curing. Visitors can witness this innovative technology excels normal one in increased efficiency as well as increased UV treatment reaching the substrate. The new URS cold mirror reflector technology combines the advantages of the well-established aluminium and cold mirror reflectors, only the UV light is reflected whilst the IR energy (heat) passes through the dichroic coatings and the cold mirror glass into a water-cooled absorber profile where the heat is efficiently removed. In addition, additional reflector profiles increase the UV energy reaching the substrate. Mr. Frank Eberhard, Service Manager, IST METZ GmbH, introduced: “The efficiency can be increased by more than 25%, which means our customers can save energy, and reduce energy cost.”

Demonstration of the possibilities of UV technology

Live demonstration of IST’s UV technology is also carried out on a Heidelberg XL 75 machine with UV at the Heidelberg’s booth, showing the interesting potential of UV technology by printing lenticular foil. Visitors could see for themselves the numerous possibilities created by UV technology for high-quality inline finishing, special effects and printing on difficult substrates.

More than just UV technology

At China Print, the slogan of IST METZ is “More than UV”, as always. IST provides not just good UV system, but also specialist knowledge about the UV curing process and much more service. IST METZ aims to provide support to customers in all aspects of UV technology. More than anything else, IST established a UV Technology Center (UVTC) in Nürtingen. The main aim of this Center is the transfer of information. It offers a full range of training courses and seminars which are designed for printers, employees and managers in the graphic arts industry who are planning to invest in UV technology or would like to gain more in-depth knowledge.

Opportunities in the Growing Chinese Market

IST METZ started developing its business in China 15 years ago. It sees China as the most import market, and keeps focusing on this market. To push its business in China, IST established its branch office 5 years ago in Shanghai. It realized the effort of the Chinese printing factories what they put in to improve their quality, and how fast the development of printing industry in China, especially when talk about packaging industry. Frank Eberhard said, what we can see is that the printing business in China is still peaking up compared to the rest of the world where printing business is on stagnation or even getting reduced. A lot of big foreign companies have moved their print shops to china and this is a big chance for the Chinese printing industry. It will grow faster and move.

This is the third time at the China Print for IST. Frank Eberhard said, China Print is a very important exhibition for us. It is the sixth largest show in the global printing industry. And since we focus China as a big market for us, it is important to give our best for the exhibition.
